Thanks in advance

  • There is a few on this site with GPX files to download for your GPS.

Site is nothing to do with me but I have found it useful for getting GPS files.

    Hi,

    I would strongly recommend this book http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/index/vi ... -books.htm

The mountain bike book is great and fits in a pocket. Really worth the investiment.

Make sure you go over iron keld and through the quary like being Indiana Jones! The other one you must do is over parkermoor over to coniston. best downhill.

When you coming up here. maybe I could show a couple of routes if you were up for it

Ambleside is a great base by the way.
  • cheers guys for all your replies. I am in the lakes from sat 24th Nov. May hook up with some others while i,m around.

If you get the chance pop into Biketreks in Ambleside. The guys there are really helpful and know all the routes up there. Everytime im up that way I try and get another route from them.
  • All the bike shops have small waterproof maps of the areas classics for a couple of pounds.
If you are going to visit a shop for info do it early then they will have time to talk.
    If you are coming from the south there is ;
    Evans in Kendal
Wheelbase in Staveley(+ Wilfs for lunch/coffee & cake if you do the Kentmere ride.Free parking btw)
    Biketreks in Ambleside
Keswick Mountain Bikes & Cafe in Keswick.

There are others but these are the popular ones
  • Hi,

I am visiting ambleside next week and wondered what the state of the trails are like after all the heavy rainfalls?. Mainly my routes are ambleside, coniston, keswick, grizedale and loughrigg.

    Thanks in advance

Not good, I'm afraid, caution is needed as there are bridges missing and the paths have been badly eroded in places. :(
