Love these tyres - but now my first one is starting to perish on the grooves cut into the sides for grip. Still no problems going thru the thorn scattered lanes at the weekend, but I dont want to tempt fate...

Any good offers out there at the moment ? Ta.

£24.44 each from Ribble if you top up to £50, or Merlin have them £26.95 each?
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

Glad you don't turn out for my winter group rides with those tyres on - they'd get shredded in these parts with the thorns and flints
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    I've been using GP4000s since 2006 - and never had a 'P'.

There had been hedge cutting at the weekend on the lanes we use - my mate got a flat on his Hutchinsons, but mine were fine.

Each to their own I suppose !

Ta for the tips chaps - I'm holding out til close of play today in case anyones got an even better bargain !

Summer tyres only. I've been running a pair of Bonty Hard Case tyres on the commuter and winter bike for what seems like 100 years. Absolutely bullet proof...

Did a search for these on saturday and ordered from this shop as they were the cheapest. Bargain! Came today as well!
It’s the most beautiful sport in the world but it’s governed by ***ts who have turned it into a crock of ****.

I made the switch from GP4000S and I freakin' love these tyres!!
  • The Conti GP 4000s are excellent. Can't be many places that get more flints than round where I ride in the Chilterns and I've not had a puncture yet this winter and ride 4-5 times a week.

OK - i HAVE ordered them now - so if you do find any cheaper - then dont tell me ! ;-)

I did see a review in a German bike mag a few years bag = they tested them for grip and puncture resistance by jabbing them with a screwdriver - and they did come out top. I'm very happy.

That's a big reaction to a tyre switch... Ive got 4000s on one of my bikes, you reckon there's some kind of big discernable difference then? (i can feel the difference between the 4000s and the cheaper schwalbe models they replaced, but ProRace3s I also ride on dont feel much different to the 4000s to me, although I do feel the 4000s is possibly a bit stickier in the wet, but that could be psychological).

Just bought the 4000s and I noticed 2 small holes on both tyres when fitting them (see below). Is this normal?

They are not holes (if you are talking about the same thing) they are wear indicators, basically when they are not holes anymore and are at the same level as the tread, the tread is worn out.

Does anyone else do this and just print out the cheapest price and buy from evans on a price match? I did this on these tyres and almost everything I buy. When I walk into Evans now I see and hear them sigh. Its a bit of a game really

Great tyres by the way :D
