Glentress Blue Route - Fun, fun, fun!
It's been aaaaaages since I've been round the blue route at Glentress, having normally concentrated my efforts on the red and, occasionally, small sections of black.
Was down at GT this morning with the wife; glorious cold & frosty morning, fairly quiet and sunshine galore once you gain a bit of height.
I'd forgotten just how good the blue actually was - very, very fast and it makes a change to not have to worry about speed + obstacles and just concentrate solely on speed. Especially useful in getting the technique right on the fantastic berms (although the berms aren't huge).
I've just become a massive fan of the GT blue route again - it's NOT just for beginnners at all!

I also lvoed the blue route. We did it after finishing the red, though we'd have a nother quick lap before heading for some food.
As you say, it's really good fun, and very high speed.0 -
Loved trying to get as much air as possible on the little jumps on the blue! Pretending I was peaty shooting through a roaring crowd.... 8)0

I'll have to give it a go Dec11 then! :shock:0

The section near the top (possibly Ewok village) is brilliant as is pretty dense forest with a great windy track through the middle. The rest of it is really good also and well maintained probably more so than the red as it see's less traffic i think. Im off work next week might head down and do red and blue .0

Ssssshhhhh! This was supposed to be a secret!
There's something nice about riding less technically demanding trails now and again. The blue is really, really, good fun. I especially love Blue Velvet for it's nice flowing corners and Electric Blue (the bit from the Buzzard's Nest car park) which I make sure I ride to improve corner technique and pumping through that middle section just before the bridge. Makes a nice warm up before doing the red / black.
Anyone ever done the green? Accompanied the wife round it to get her confidence back up after braking her arm, that too is fun - like the smoothest sections of the blue. Don't knock it till you've tried it.0 -
I love the bit just out the back of the buzzards nest car park through the large sweeping berms then over the wooden bridge catching as must air as you dare before landing in that massive right hand catch berm. We have to draw straws at the car park, who’s going to drive the van down and who’s going to get the free downhill to the bottom.
Blue, Red or Black Glentress rocks (still not as good as inners)0 -
It's a similar situation at Brechfa. The Green and Blue are actually great fun for anyone. You wouldn't expect someone who thinks their riding is knarly enough to warrant a full-face lid riding a green route but you see it there.0

I wish i'd tried the blue when I was up there now!
Having said that, the Glentress red is one of my favourite trails EVER (along with the Dalbeattie red)
And I wish i'd ridden the blue at Brechfa - did the red earlier this year and it scared the pants off me :shock:Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!
