is there any sort of free audio editor available on-line so i can extract the bits i like from an hour long podcast?

I've downloaded these great americana podcasts but they're an hour long - i'd like to be able to edit it so i have all the songs as seperate files and with all the talking between the records gone.

It sounds like it ought to be pretty simple - is it?

  • Audacity -- at least I think it is free.

I use it for cleaning up files I have made from vinyl. You can import your MP3 (provided you have enough RAM to handle working on a large file) and edit it down, apply fade ins or fade outs, improve the sound levels if you need to.

Audiocity is very good for recording and editing, mixing etc...all kinds of audio media through your computer. Then getting rid of the adverts etc.... AHEM! 8)
Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!

    Audacity

+2. Look via google or sourceforge. Don't like it as much on the PC as much as I did on my laptop as I could record the sound from webpages with it but not on the PC :( Anyhow it's a good bit of kit for a freebie. You will need to get hold of Lame MP3.dll so you can export the edited files as MP3s.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Or just export as Wav and convert in iTunes, which is what I used to do until I upgraded.
