You can't just buy a frame (unless you find a very dodgy bike shop).More problems but still living....0

I believe you can use the scheme to buy anything cycling relatedStart with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0

It does depend how friendly your LBS, or scheme provider is.
If your scheme is self administered, you just need a VAT receipt so easier to push through what you want.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0 -
A friend of mine from got a mtb and a kinesis frame with his voucher.SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES; NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS0

Try Planet X, I'm sure that they used to be flexible in this regard.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

Hi,
I believe when you apply for the voucher you have to intend to buy a bike and can buy accessories on top of this.
The voucher I received only had a monetary value and had no reference to the bike or accessories I planned to buy.
So as long as you check with your friendly LBS in advance the impression I get is they're unlikely to care what you actually spend it on.0 -
As above, depends on your scheme. Mine was run through Halfrauds. Quote, "vouchers are available from £20 to £1000 to spend on cycling or cycling related equipment". New helmet time I thought to myself. Phoned to confirm. "Oh no sir, you can't just buy equipment, you can only purchase that alongside a new bicycle." What kind of new bike am I going to get for £20? Why offer that voucher value in the first place?
No answer to that. Dimwits.
I still think if I'd just got a voucher I could have spent it and they'd be none the wiser. I have heard rumour of a reasonably well known chain of shops who take the Halfrauds vouchers and don't care what you spend it on.0 -
My work run the scheme through Evans and it stipulates that you have to buy a bike i.e. one you can ride out the shop. I guess this is logical as the idea of the scheme is that you buy a bike cheap so you can ride it to work
I think it would be fine to buy a frame and associated group/finishing kit at the same time but whether they would let you just buy a frame is anyone's guess.
You'd probably get more joy from a LBS but as Evans is a large chain then if the auditors ever got wind of what went on then they'd be in trouble.
I'd give it a go but if all else fails then just top up the £1000 with the difference.0
