Llandegla
Hi,
I am making a trip for 3 days with my Brothers to Llandegla.
I've been reading up reviews, watching videos etc. and it looks really fun and flowing and fast! But is there enough there for 3 days...
What else is there around the area which is like this trail i.e. what other trails are nearby that aren't XC trails. I'm looking for Singletrack like Afan or Glentress.
Please assist me!
albo.

one day at llandegla and you'll have done most/all of it. nearby you have penmachno and the marin trail, both of which are well worth the visit.if it ain't rainin.....it ain't trainin

There's a new "skills area" there now as well, might be wroth an afternoon of playing on.
If you want to practice your jumping, then JJ's jumps (check the trail map) are also worth an afternoon or so.
But relatively nearby you have Penmachno, the Marin trail, and a little bit further again, you have Coed y Brenin.
Or, if you fancy going au-naturelle, just head off into the mountains (but take proper precautions of course, several people have been killed on the snowdonia mountains this year)0 -

Erm, I would suggest that Glentress and Afan are XC trails?!
Anyhow, I wouldn't have thought there's enough at Llandegla to justify three days of riding. The XC loop can easily be done twice in a day. There is the skills area and pump track (is the pump track open yet?), burt that's personal choice really, on how long you can spend on things like that. Penmachno isn't too far and is very good. The Marin Trail is just down the road from there but, in my opinion, it's spectacularly dull.East Anglia Biking Collective!

I'd head down to Coed, as the marin trail is pretty crap and a let down. drive the miles and enjoy some pretty good fun trails at Coedy0

Llandegla should put a smile on you face (at least I enjoy it), the Marin was OK, but do Penmachno I loved it. Never been to Cody (I know it's less than an hour from me  ) All within 40 mins of Llandegla.
There are some good routes around the area - try here http://www.mbnw.co.uk/routes.html but you will need good bike map reading skills! I'd still to the above______________________________________________

bit of a stretch to say that Coedy is 40 minutes away from llandegla. Marin and Penmachno, maybe, but you've got another 30 minutes of driving past them to get to coedy.0

If you have got time warm up with Llandegla and then head off to cody0

yeah the skills section and pump track are open now, but won't take up much time
good idea to do a natural ride on day 2 or 3, im sure if you ask the guys at llandegla they'll point you in the right direction for a good route (will break up the trail centres aswell), be prepared though if you do go natural (ie map reading on the ball and a proper map/ compass )if it ain't rainin.....it ain't trainin

hi, its ok for a play, but its basically there to let you know what to expect on the trail. its got a few different sections like berms, jumps etc with 2/3 different grades of each. we were there about 10 mins and then cracked on. suppose its good for a warm up though.

But it sounds like a great place to take some of my newbie MTB friends to learn the ropes.
I take it their "freeride area" isn't open yet?0 -
didn't see any sign of a freeride area whilst there. i also heard they were building a dual race track so you can race a mate down, should be fun!!
Definatly worth a visit, especially if you've got mates just starting out, you can give them some tips and let them try various obstacles before hitting the trail.if it ain't rainin.....it ain't trainin

forgot to say if you do go, the shop/cafe is shut on a monday, but the trail is still open and car parking is a flat £3.50 (which is well worth it imo).
also if you've not been in a while at the top of the first climb they've been chopping a fair few trees down, looks like a nukes gone off!!!!if it ain't rainin.....it ain't trainin

yeah, I've seen the "tunguska blast crater"
I was talking with my mates last time I was there that we'd probably never see that area wodded again. How long do trees take to grow back?0 -
lol good description!! don't know mate but think it will be like that for a while.
been on the website and it says there is another 10k of singletrack to be built, which is nice!!if it ain't rainin.....it ain't trainin

I wouldn't say that the Marin trail's crap, Go there and give it a go and then make your mind up. The Marins my local trail and I've been riding it for years, never get bored of it. There is a lot of fire road riding but the singletrack in between is cracking. The last section is not to be missed, from the car park you can go round and round sessioning the last section as loong as your legs will get you up the hill.
I reckon people dismiss the trail because of the initial fire road climb to get to the top of the 1st singletrack section.
If your in the area its one to be bagged.Niner Air 9 Rigid

I'd agree that it's worth trying the marin trail. It's not one of my favourite trails, though, but it might be right up your street.0

+1 for the marin trail, love the final descent back to the car park 8)if it ain't rainin.....it ain't trainin

Try the Clywds as well, if you get the right spots there's some superb fast downhill.
Have a look at the different routes on ride the clywds website but beware because some of them are a bit firetrack/road based and can be a little boring. It's here it's now it's disappointingly lacking in any real knowledge, http://blogs.liverpoolecho.co.uk/acyclistslife/0 -
Anybody know when the other bits of red are due for completion?0
