SPD's

Just bought myself some Lidl SPD compatible shoes (£9.99 bargain) and now need to find some pedals, want to do this as cheaply as possible, never have been clipped in before so if I don't like it haven't lost too much. Found some Shimano M520 and M505 pedals on fleabay for around £19 delivered. Decent price ? Good pedals for a newbie to SPD ? Difference between these two sets of pedals ?
Have slightly cranky knees and will need something with enough float to allow me to find my ideal foot placement
Any advice welcome
Thanks
Paul

IMO go for the m520 its a good little SPD and at £19 you say, you cant go wrong0

M520's you should be able to find at £19-£20 delievered - mine cost £19.99 delivered from Merlin through their ebay shop (so I could empty my Paypal credit!). Not found new ones any cheaper than that.
The 520's allow a reasonable amount of foot movement within the cleat.

+1 for M520's, they're great little pedals for the price, clear mud well, and have adjustable tension.
Make sure you set the cleat position correctly in the shoe (follow instructions) otherwise you can get painful knees. Also, slacken the release tension off at first whilst you get used to being clipped-in.0 -
Looks like it will be the 520's then.
Thanks for the replies

Whichever you buy make sure they come with a cleat backing plate as well as the cleat (or buy this separately).. the backing plate in the Lidl shoes is not very good and the thread chews quickly, which will result in injury or death or worse when the bolt strips out leaving you unable to release your foot from the cleat..

I use Single sided SPD's because sometimes I either can't be bothered with my cycling shoes or I don't want them clipped in.
