Hi all,
My spesh bg shoes are looking a little tired so I'm looking at getting some new SPD shoes.
I want some that are styled like skate shoes if possible, I've been looking at:
Shimano MP66 Shoes

and
661 Filter SPD

Anyone have any experience of these? Any others I should look at?
Also saw some really nice Greg Minnaar 5.10s that look sweet

But don't think they're available yet.

i think vans recently released some? if that's the case, vans are super comfy0

Theyre a re-issue I had a set mid/late 90's then they went off the radar and got re-issued about two months ago, Ive been in nothing but them since I bought em, fortunately got mine while on det in the states $85. I have seen them on wiggle website.... Wish they came in white tho?!!!!0

yep just found them in last month's MBUK, vans warner shoes, buy them. The waffle grip sole is really grippy anyway, without spds in.0

You might want to check the new issue of MBUK (245: 18/11/09) for the review of the Vans Warner.0

iv just taken delivery of some mp66's, and WOW! they are soo comfy, more than my fox skate shoes, and i didnt think i would ever say that. they have a pretty grippy sole, and its reall easy to find the cleats on them when your in a manic clip in kwick moment. they really warm, and are totaly splash proof, but do leak if you stand in a puddle. howvwer this hasent been a prob so far. they look good, feel totaly secure, (i got a 43, for normally size 8, and thay fit like a dream) have nice stiff sloes so good power transfer, but theyr still ok to walk in, and you dont walk like a penguin, so theyr good for when you might have to get off the bike. the cleat is also well enough receced not to make a noice when you walk.
the inside is well paded, and realy, really comfy, and the inner ankle has a raised section which gives great suport, and protects it from knocks.
overall, im blown away. truly stunning. and i got mine for £40 delivered on ebay, including some free pedals, which i hope to get £10 for!.I like bikes and stuff0 -
also, the lace cover is a killer idea, fantstic, truly fantastic, im admiring mine right now....I like bikes and stuff0

i have the black version of the mp66 (the year befores) and yes they are comfy but not quite as stiff as normal spd shoes, i could tell that i couldnt get quite as much power downwhat are brakes for again0

another vote for the MP66's I need to sell mine though they're too big, so if anyone needs a size 10 pair, let me know.
Those Five-10's do look ace though, but means waiting until Jan, like the idea that you can go back to flats on them by screwing the SPD cover back on, the other shoes are either or, once you've put cleats in them that's it.0 -
i'm backing the mp66s- use mine for pretty much everything except really hot days, really long rides, and racing. pretty heavy, although they can kick through a wallRock Lobster 853, Trek 1200 and a very old, tired and loved Apollo Javelin.0

I've got my heart set on the Vans, but has anyone got or used any yet? I'd like to get an idea on sizing and that but i've heard only wiggle is stocking them in the UK. Any one know of any other stockists?
Any reviews about (MBUK one is coming up I know) but any other?0 -
I have the Shimano ones, and they are tops. They're grippy, hard wearing, padded in the right places and the big velcro flap does a great job of keeping water out.
They do make you look like Forrest Gump though.0
