Which is best?.Whats the difference??. I have an 08 madone 5.5 performance fit, ive done 200 miles and its immaculate, but im just not that keen, I had an 06 madone 5.2 that i loved and i was thinking of changing to a pro fit frame for a similar feel...
Dont know weather to plug on for a while with performance fit and see if it grows on me...
Also heard that some of th astana team rode performance fit not the pro fit, is this true??

  • so just dropping the stem as low as possible would make the difference?.. :D

Well yeh, if you are currently running a performance fit but still have spacers on the steerer, I don't think a Pro fit would be a logical next step.

  • I only have one spacer left, i had a 58 before and now i ride a 56 as im 6ft tall and the trek site said i should be on a 56... The bike's good i just felt faster on the old one, ive switched to a longer stem and i its very flat... I just feel very upright on the newer madone, i was tempted to buy a pro fit from ebay and sell mine on there...
Think i'll see if i get used to it and maybe put a flatter longer stem on..
Thanks for the help Brownleather 8)

Do any pro's ride the performance fit?
  • I have just taken delivery of a new 2010 madone pro fit, there is a 30mm difference in height between the pro fit and the performance fit, other than that geometry is the same, basically as someone said if you remove all the spacers on the performance fit it will drop 30mm and be the same height as the pro fit, if you want to go lower I would suggest you get a new stem with a 7+ degree rise and flip it to drop the bars further, going flatter and longer wont give you the set up you want.

I have to say that I have had a terrible time setting up my new steed as the geometry is massivly different from my training bike and along with new pedals and shoes I have so far dropped the saddle 1" to get the same leg length from saddle to pedal, now set up its awesome, great power transfer and very comfortable. I am still having 15mm taken off the forks to drop the bars, no point spending all that dosh on a racing bike and sitting upright.

Just to tart it up Ive added dura ace carbons and they are awesome.

    Hope this has helped
