My birthday's coming up

I'm thinking of some new Assos full length bib leggings. I have the shorts and they are excellent but the leggings are "rather" expensive and I want something I can use for training rides and commuting without worrying about ruining 200 quids worth of leggings if I come off (not that I ever come off 8) but just in case).

Should I go with these or something else?

The budget isn't huge due to the credit crunch (4 day week etc ) so what would you suggest at around £200?

  • I use Castelli, mainly 'cus I can't afford Assos and Rapha stuff. But if your budget is around £200, Assos is the quality by others are judged, go for them.

I swear by Giordana Tenax shorts and bibs. I'd prefer them to Assos even if they weren't less than half the price.

£200 seems a pretty huge budget to me for bibtights!
I've used an Assos pair for a number of years. These are quite lightweight, probably equivalent to the RX-LL in the current range. I guess it depends on how much you feel the cold though. Personally, there I think there are only a handful of days a year where I'd want something warmer. Like their Fugu jacket, the top end bibs are probably unnecessary for the UK climate.
Check out Slane cycles, they had some 2008 Assos bibs heavily discounted last time I looked.
  • I just picked up a pair of Assos Airprotec LL for £117 delivered, after a few google searches. They should be good down to 5 or 6C I think (I don't like to be cold on the bike) and have a great quality feel.

Good grief man go for Assos and enjoy the quality and comfort! It's your birthday for gods sake.

You can go for the Winter LL with the newer pad or the older S2 mille pad in the Airprotecs or Airblocks. Sublime kit!
