A hill called 'Y Glyn' in the BBs

Hi,

I thinking of doing the Dragon Ride next year as my first ever sportive. Most of my riding is around Surrey, but I did one ride in the Brecon Beacons this summer, which I don't think included any of the climbs in the Dragon ride.

The hardest climb was called 'Y Glyn', I believe. It starts after the bridge between Abercynafon and Torpantau and there's a carpark at the top. There was a 20% warning sign at the bottom and I found it really tough, but dd make it up eventually.

Could someone tell me how this climb compares to those in the Dragon Ride? I'd really like to do the DR, but if the climbs are going to be much tougher, I don't think I'll make it :!:

Thanks :)

This map should show the climb I'm talking about: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Unknown+road&daddr=51.847762,-3.374348&geocode=FfgSFwMdC8zM_w%3B&hl=en&mra=mi&mrsp=1,0&sz=14&sll=51.845853,-3.356495&sspn=0.028739,0.059137&ie=UTF8&ll=51.847338,-3.380957&spn=0.028738,0.091839&z=14

  • Nothing steep in the Dragon Ride... long steady climbs at 6-7% and a few ramps at 10%

I don't like the DR, but if that's what you want to do, go for it... it's not a super-hard one

Thanks, doesn't sound so daunting now.

I think I mixed it up with the Dave Lloyd sportive, which I've heard has some v.steep hills.
