It's too much effort to make separate threads, so here goes:
Cove Foreplay
Spec:
Fork: Fox 36 Van r
Wheels: XM321/Hope Sport
Cranks: HT2 Hone
Brakes: XT M765
Drivetrain: MRP T3, SRAM x.9 shifter, x.7 derr
Changes since photo: Spesh BG comp Road saddle.
Spesh Stumpjumper comp
Spec:
Fork: Float 120
Wheels: XC717/Hope pro2 (Not shown) / CX wheels on MTB hubs
Cranks: HT2 XT M770
Brakes: XTR M965 calipers/M765 levers/2010 RT76 6 bolt rotors (Not shown)
Drivetrain: x.9/X.7 with the X.9 at the wrong end.
The one on the right. I only ever ride it on rollers and i've done only 500 miles on it in 3 years so It's getting replaced with something that looks nicer on the shelf.
It did get a proper outing at SITS2008 though, yes, those are full slicks.
Intense Socom with Intense team tuned, shortened DHX5
07 888ATA
M810 Saint cranks
M800 Saint brakes
Bulb/721 wheelset
Ea50 bars
Sram X.9 shifting
12-23 HG50 cassette
Modified e.13 LG1 chain device.
And it flies. Second to last rider here:

All my mountainbikes (plus my brothers/my spare) run the same BBs and the same brakepads. It's a necessity.
My name is Alex and I race bikes.

Impressive collection you have there, must've cost the earth. One bike per speciality?0
-
Pretty much.
Why have one bike that does everything poorly when you can have four that do one thing very well?0 -
because you may not have enough money?0

nice collection. Socom is especailly nice. Did you replace the sx trail (if thats what it is?) frame with the Socom frame?
you short a hardtail- Kona Hot '96 - Marin Rift Zone '09 - Cannondale Synapse Carbon '06 - Kona Caldera '98 - Kona AA '94 - Dawes Kickback II - Cannondale BadBoy '11 - Genesis iOiD SS -0 -
Frame and a few other bits and bobs, yes.
The SX was my old "do everything" bike that got gradually more DH oriented until it became clear that it was holding me back. I didn't need to race 4X and XC on the same bike as I rode DH on anymore, so I got the genuine article.0 -
much more disparate than my collection! Lovely set of bikes though!0

I've worked without a break in employment since I was sixteen to have the bikes I have today.
You can't hope to compete on a bike you built with your Christmas money. You've got to make the effort.0 -
the intense is very cool looking.0

XC hardtails are for people who think hardtails are quicker. I'm not amongst them.
I don't want a CX bike because, as you proved at HTN, they'll be fine right up until you really want your MTB and then you'll just hate it.
I don't do time trials. I have roadie friends who are in to that malarkey and it doesn't look that appealing. Thus, no need for a TT bike.
As for a fixie, I'll be obliging that as soon as Mian hurries the hell up.0 -

You still need a TT bike, a XC hardtail, a CX bike* and a fixie to complete the set though...
*Sticking CX wheels on the Stumpy doesn't count.0 -
You need new wheels for the Stumpy and a nice carbon XTC0

Actually it was HONC, but meh, if they run the HTN event next year, I will take the CX bike as that course would really suit it...Alex wrote:As for a fixie, I'll be obliging that as soon as Mian hurries the hell up.

I also have one of those. If you were at HTN last year, you'd understand. Any parts of the course that could be ridden suited a CX bike (fire roads and tarmac roads), the rest of the course got cut up and had to be pushed. A CX bike is easier to carry and run with than a lightweight XC bike.0 -
