I'm thinking of getting a Boardman Team Carbon. Still trying to find a Halfords with one in near me to look at. Lad at one branch told me it isn't a compact crankset but according to website and brochure it is, quote-(SRAM S350 GXP compact chainset provides lower gear ratios for tackling hills with a higher cadence). :? If I struggle on hills (now 50 plus in years) is it possible to add a 12-27 or 12-28 instead (currently 12-25, 34-50) and if so how much diff would it make. I find my fitness is getting better, only started riding 6 months ago on a MTB but love road riding now. there is a big difference in wt from my old bike also. hope to do sportives and maybe racing in the future - do clubs have a senior section for 50yrs plus riders?

Team carbon is a compact (assuming standard spec). The pro carbon is a standard double.

I'm well over 50 mate and can get up some decent hills with a standard 39/50 and a 12/27 on the back. With a compact you should be able to climb the walls...
