I'm new to the area and love to hear from anyone who lives near Oxford city centre. Where within a hour driving could one go to ride single track/technical riding? If theres a local riding group that I could join?

If anything, you want to head East. To the NE are the Chilterns around Risborough and Chinnor. Not much 'singletrack' as of such but plenty of interesting trails to ride and discover. To the East is Christmas Common, and again not much singletrack as of such but explore around and you will find some nice trails. Christmas Common is a nice bit of climbing practice at 250m high.
Otherwise, I would head down the A34 into Berkshire.

Lots of good routes in west berks? I live in Newbury any good routes round here? I haven't used a bike in anger for years and have only just started again, so any info on good routes around here would be useful.FCN 70
