Thinking of getting a rack for 2 adult bikes and in a couple of years a kiddie bike. Can anyone recommend a decent quality bike rack for the Zara? I have a rack already for a small car from Halfords but I could'nt trust Halfords as far as I could throw them!

Do you mean a roof rack or a rear mounted one, and do you mean a Xara hatch or a Xara Picasso?
I had a Xara hatch for a year and picked up some cheap Mont Blanc roof bars on ebay for about £30. I use a Mont Blanc Barracuda bike carrier, and it's top stuff. Again you can find them for peanuts on ebay.0 -
It's a Picasso and I was looking at rear mounted ones.

Rear mount bad
Roof mount good :P0 -
rear mount just fine
I've got a Saris bones recently and it's serverd me perfectly. It's replaced the cheap generic piece of pipework I've had for, ooooh, years.
Anyway, it fits virtually any car/van/truck, and it let us carry 3 heavy full sussers to scotland recently (from Wales) at motorway speeds.
Not the only option, of course, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.0 -
Rear mount can be tricky but there is a huge variation in quality - some are excellent. However if you want a 'proper' rear mount then it has to be towbar mounted - rock solid. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
I bought the Saris bones three for our Toyota auris which is a hatch back!! It was easy to set up and the rubber coated mounting hooks and feet are great for protecting the paintwork on your car!!! Just try to find the lower towing mounts behind/underneath the rear bumper to hook the lower straps too for extra support.
We've been out most weekends in the last year and had three bikes on it many a time no dramas to date, was worth the extra dosh0
