Week off work - best place to ride
Ok, so I have a week off work and, I have a car and bike rack, dont really mind how far I have to travel but want to be there and back in one day. In the past I have been to Whinlarter, Grizdale, Guisburn, Stainburn so fancy somewhere new
I live in West Yorkshire near Skipton (yeah I know Skipton is North Yorks) and ride hard XC / All Mountain type stuff, dont mind rocky technical stuff of a bit of air
So the question is, where is the best place to ride ?
Any suggestions welcome, trail centres or random routes
Cheers

Try Lee Quarry at Bacup.
A bit sketchy when wet but lots of technical stuff if you follow the black route - basicaly just make up your own route - some trials areas there as well. Should eat up an afternoon.
For more of a full day out, head for Hebden Bridge. If you go into Blazing Saddles and ask nicely they'll give you some ideas for start points and distances.0 -
Would Mabie @ Dumfries be too far?
Can do you the "locals" guided tour
I am off till Fri but having difficulty with transport atm.0 -
if I had a week off (which i dont) and if i lived in north yorks (which i dont) i would have a drive up north. maybe forest near dunfries is ok as long as it is dry, this is the same for drumlarnig as they are both rooty. try kirrougtree or dalbeatie for good xc loops with a bit of tech stuff. or you could head up the a1 to glentress for a day, then the xc loop at innerleithen for a day then head to dalbeattie by the m74/m6. also aviod ae forest, every time i go i am dissapointed by the trail condition and huge amount of forest track and relentless uphill.0

Kirry to GT/Inners = 2.1/2hrs drive.
Dumfries(Mabie/Ae/D`beattie) to Kirry = 1hr drive.
Me, I`d go down to the Lakes, Howgills, Peaks or N.Y. Moors0 -
Hey thanks for the replys
Its just typical, her indoors has had me fix her car, fix the sink, fix the cooker
so havent had much chance to get out but will try tomorrow
Was thinking Dalby or the lakes
Would love a trip to Glentress but think I'll organise a few mates with me for that
Cheers guysYou can never have too many bikes!0 -
Dalby's great but the road in has a toll of £7 per car and a route map can be bought in the bike shop (it was a quid last year) so be preparedYou know you've been working on the bike too long when it falls over and you don't care!0

Alps, totally doable in a day there and one back. with the shuttle.0
