Bent Derailleur

Out of curiosity what would/could cause this to happen? (so that the spokes were hitting the derailleur everytime).

I saw someone on h.smith bridge today but couldn't really fix it as i'm not that clued up on that part of the mech.

    usually the mech hanger is bent.
    Not that difficult to straighten.

    ta, it didn't look bent.

    Anyhow I sent her off to a bike shop, doh.

  • 2 reasons for rear mech hitting spokes:

    1. limit screws set incorrectly
    2. bent rear hanger (not easily visible: needs to be checked with a special tool)

    Probably no 2. Bike shop should sort:
    steel frame - they will just bend back
    alu - might try slight bending but a bit dodgy
    carbon- #snap#
