Tempted by an FS build

Hi Guys I need some help again!
Now that I have my great new Cube I have really been bitten by the bug. I see all these builds on here and I am really tempted to embark on my own.
Therefor I have been digging around. I have found a GT i-Drive and a Trek Top Fuel Carbon FS frame. I will be looking at building a FS bike but want it light enough to do full xc and down hill.
Answers on a postcard may be a little slow so this is probably best.
Cheers in advance.

If it doesn't hurt in the process, its not worth doing in the first place!

Bikes that do XC and DH ain't light - it has to be strong for the latter.
You get all rounders which do both, but will still be heavier than an XC bike and always not as good as a full on DH bike.0 -
Would probably look to go on the more DH side than xc. Thats why I am more tempted by the GT than the Trek as it looks beefier and able to take more hits.If it doesn't hurt in the process, its not worth doing in the first place!

The Top Fuel would disentegrate if you did any DH on it.
What model Idrive is it?0 -
1.0 it says but it has a rock shox SID shock on it.
It also has an isis bottom bracket on it and it is going pretty cheap which is why I am a little sceptical about it.If it doesn't hurt in the process, its not worth doing in the first place!

It is an old XC bike.
Again, totally unsuitable for DH.0 -
Right start again.
I have been looking at a Specialized big hit DH and a Giant ATX 2DH. I was less tempted as they look too heavy but want something strong enough that won't die on a DH.
Thoughts? If it doesn't hurt in the process, its not worth doing in the first place!

Aha, better ideas! The Big Hit will take a good thrashing, but now of course will be compromised for XC ;-)
Not sure on the ATX as it quite old.
Depending on how severe the DH is, something like a Spesh Pitch may be a good compromise.0 -
ok now I am singing off the right song sheet I will take a better look at the Spesh. My wallet has taken a bashing recently having just got my Cube so budget is limited. If it doesn't hurt in the process, its not worth doing in the first place!
