OK, self confessed rapha addict here.
Very tempted to buy one of the new rain jackets but not read any reviews yet, anyone here tried/own one???? Torn between that and a stowaway jacket which by all accounts are amazing.

Isn't the rain jacket the new stowaway?Expertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/

No, both still available. Rain jacket is full waterproof not just the "water resistant" stowaway. Sounds like it will be a bit heavier too.
Hence the dilema.0 -
Not sure if this will help but,
The Stowaway will leave damp areas on the arms around the seam areas in an extreme downpour so I imagine this was one area addressed by the Rain Jacket.
But it took my wife to point that out so it isn't too bad :P
I will have no hesitation going out in the rain again.
I can't comment on the Rain Jacket's breathability but the Stowaway is excellent.
Anyone know if you can get Oakley windscreen wipers?None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
Just bought the stowaway and love it, couldn't bring myself to buy a rain jacket that I couldn't take off and shove into my shirt if it stopped raining!!!0

I got one a couple of weeks ago.......
1. Fits like a f*cking dream - no arguments on that score
2. Haven't taken a full-on hosing yet, but so far so good in the drizzle. I would however point out that it's basically a couple of hundred grams of chinese-produced nylon (alchemists have NOTHING on Rapha!), so unless they have performed some kind of fabric-engineering miracle it's hard to see how it will perform significantly differently than any other nylon. If anyone can add anything to this point then I'm all ears.
3. Can't really comment on the breathability. Whether it's bone dry outside, or a force 10 monsoon, and whether I'm wearing full winters or shorts and a shirt, unless I come back from my ride dripping then it probably means I didn't try hard enough. And whilst I'd prefer something which kept the rain out from something that didn't, this whole breatheability thing feels a bit of a confidence trick to me.....
I'd probably be singing a different tune if I'd actually paid for my Rapha jacket. Which I didn't.....0 -
I got the stowaway recently and it's great (sigma sport have them on sale and their service is excellent). I looked at the rain jacket in the Condor shop and it looks quite a bit thicker - the stowaway packs down really small which is such a bonus0

Thanks all,
Have gone for the stowaway, not keen on the nylon for £190. I think you are always better off with something thinner then layers under, more versatile.
Off to sigma to buy (thanks for the tip off) orange wasn't my first choice but even rapha dont have the misty blue in stock any more.0 -
I have the old stowaway - its a lovely jacket - but not worth the price. Best if you can buy it from one of their sales.0
