The Bolle Contours come with 3 lense types:
http://www.arco.co.uk/103/content/facts ... ONTPSI.pdf
the frames are NYLON.
I have read with interest the threads on these glasses, and most recommend the METAL frame ones.
You can see all the types here, with the newer metal ones listed after the older versions:
http://www.safety-one.co.uk/products.php?cat=Glasses (takes a bit to open)
QUESTION: which are best for cycling? My instict would say the nylon frames are more safe, and light. The threads keep mentioning the metal variety. There is little price difference, so I'm asking those who own them to comment on the types.
Had both? Or, can vouch for one frame? Why metal? Are the nylon just too flimsy??
Any help appreciated. I am NOT asking about lense colour at all!!! Just frame material.

I have both types and like both. The metal framed ones look & feel slightly more substantial, though a fraction heavier (not that you'd notice when they're on). Brilliant VFM - I'd be happy (almost) spending 10x the price on them!
Why not get one of each & keep one pair for spare/DIY?Cycling weakly0 -
I intend to get one clear, smoke, and esp. to cover all riding conditions.
Which is best? Thats all I want to know. Do you think one has the edge? Which would you pick if you had to, purely for riding?0 -
I bought the metal framed one's for MTB'ing but no longer wear them. There's no way I want metal frames near my peepers if find myself flung over the handlebars. So plastic frames all the way for me now.0

If pushed, I'd probably give the Metal framed ones the edge overall. Just.
Why not get one of your three intended pairs with the nylon frames, or three metal + one "spare" in nylon?Cycling weakly0 -
I could... but I just wanted to not waste money and ask first. Odd that the metal ones seem to be those pushed most on these threads.
As few others have spoken out, I'll hang on. The postage costs mean I'd rather get all 3 up front, than buy and consider, and buy more.
Hoping some more owners shout up. Mind you, at the price, hardly a a huge issue.

I wouldn't push metal! I think those that do may be favouring fashion over function.
I have the nylon / clear - perfect, swap with full tint polarised Oakley Monster Dogs in the daytime, covers all bases. Apart from other issues, metal frames will bend or break when you sit on them or abuse them in any way, nylon just take the punishment. (This is also a good feature of the monster dogs, even the hinges use no metal, so if they pop out, they pop back).
Nylon! You know it makes sense!0 -
I do know it makes sense, as my current specs are nylon as are the expensive oakleys.
It was this forum that began to sow the seeds of doubt!
Nylon it is! Now to find a supplier who doesn't charge £5 postage!0 -
I think I got my last Bolle's for about £7.99 posted on eBay.0
