Autumnal Mornings :-)

Does anyone else love this time of year. As I left the house this morning there was a definate chill in the air, nothing too bad, just enough to wake you up and make you feel alive  I pushed on out of the town into the country lanes, and the trees really are looking their best with many different hues of orange, and the contryside looked fantastic with a thin layer of mist on the fields.

It makes me yearn for the huge bonfires, fireworks, hot bowls of soup, and big sausages with baked potatoes that were a feature of my childhood at this time of year :lol::lol:

God, what's happening to me, I've encountered a wave of nostalgia  It must be an age thing

    I agree with you 100%

It's too warm at the moment though, not enough of a nip in the air. I was in short sleeves for the ride home yesterday FFS. According to the metro it was -4C on this day last year.

I agree lovely mornings for cycling.
Even took a half day yesterday to go a longer route home during daylight.
    Lovely colours on the trees.

Must say today and yesterday have been positively balmy here in Glasgow.
Arrive at work rather on the hot side, and I am in shorts and long sleeve jersey.

Roll on a little bit of crispness!!

Yeah, it's not really crisp enough just yet, a bit of frost on the ground would go down nicely.

I'm with you here - it was great.

I even had a bit of mist through the forest. Or I was more emotional than I thought....

  • Yes it is really nice at the moment cycling through my local country park... but I didn't appreciate the leaves when I ended up sliding down the tarmac last night on my thigh. One minute I was upright the next minute... ouch. Still at least the bike is OK and the road rash will get better.

  • Yep - no question - part of my short ride in is through Sandy Lane and through an avenue of really ancient beech trees. They are all glorious shades of orange, yellow, reds and russets and as I come out of the trees I emerge onto the the top of Bowden Hill overlooking the flood plain of the Avon. The valley floor is often shrouded in mist so I drop down into it as I descend the hill ..................

Makes me feel great to be alive :):):)

Yes, I love autumn too. For me it's the best time of year.

Riding in yesterday, the hedges round the fields seemed to be holding the early morning mist in neat squares as it hung in the cool air. The trees are a riot of colours, and last week I saw a live fox for only the second time ever.

It's a bit spooky when you get buzzed by a barn owl, but I'm sure the adreneline helped. :-)

I think my best ever was 3 in one night in london. The sheer number of urban ones in west london is rather amazing. Only trouble is when they hoot at night and you wonder who is slaughtering next doors baby.

I saw 4 foxes in about three miles cycling through West Norwood and Tulse Hill. All over the bloody place they are! The one that tried to knock me off my bike, two nights in a row, in exactly the same place is cruising for a D-locking, though.

Biondino, he's telling you to stay away from his territory. You never heard of the postcode wars? I'd heed his message

I'm really enjoying the weather too, there also seem to be fewer nutters on the roads and my fear of night time cycling seems to have gone too so its all great.

Counting down the days till I get my new (non robotic) bike :) and start doing some sunday adventure rides again.

Speaking of which I would be really into doing some night time early hours urban riding too.

I nearly got my wish this morning, no frost on the ground yet, but a bit of bite to the air and a low mist. Just enough to wake you up :lol::lol:

before the hour change was going though lots of early morn mist in Bushy Park with the rutting stags, rather lovely as you might imagine.

I do love the colder early morns I need to get out for some longer bike rides as well as I love this cooler weather as I don't tend to overheat...
