Hi I'm new, so is my bike 8)

I'm getting my bike in the next week or so all going well.

But I need to get a shock pump for the front suspension as well as a normal pump to carry on rides.

Can any suggest a good mini pump I can put in back pack, and a shock pump please. If it is any help the bike is a 17.5" frame and I'm 11 stone and 5 7" hoping to drop back down to around 10 stone in time.

Thanks for any help/suggestions offered.

  • Hi, there are many shock pumps around, pretty much of a muchness...

Expect to pay £15-£20 from CRC/Wiggle etc.

I use a Fox pump, which was £20 and it works fine.

Regards to the mini-pump, I have a crank bros one, but again, check out CRC. The Lezyne ones get good reviews....

for mini pumps the topeak mountain morph is great, very quick to inflate. I have two RS shock pumps which both work well.
  • Hi thanks I'll have a look those tonight, see what come up.

I was also thinking, I will probally need a mud guard for the rear so I can that those out too on those sites.

I'm going to be manily using my bike for riding to work to help build up my fitness and the tube really does suck. But I would like to to go off road when I'm 100% fit.

What shoes would be a good idea to get? The guys in the store said, to get sticky sole mounatin bike shoes. Any suggestion on what we would be good start out with?

    Thanks.
  • I wear skate shoes when on the bike, I don't see/can justify buying a set of 5:10s as they are ridiculously pricey. There is a thread here somewhere linking you to this place. Most MTB shoes (skate style) are identical, I bought a set of the Vision Newports for £10 YES £10. Shall give them a whirl the weekend. I had some airwalks before and they were great.

for shoes, scott classic shoes are good - stiff soles and quite grippy for under £20 at evans!
    no idea about pumps
