The Bash Street Kids were always my Beano favourites, probably with Roger the Dodger some way behind in the runner-up spot.

I was a solid Beano reader for many years and loved the Bash Street Kids. Try and find a copy of comic artist Leo Baxendale's autobiography - it's quite a good insight into the age of comics.

Sandman or John Constantine when I collected comics a good few years ago

Tintin, Asterix and Lucky Luke from my childhood, along with The Beano, Whizzer & Chips, the Dandy and Nutty obviously.

I used to be a big 2000AD fan; I bought it from the first issue right up until my early 30s.

Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper, Nemesis, DR & Quinch and Slaine were all superb, especially Slaine when it was drawn by Glen Fabry. Now that I think about it, most of 2000 AD in the early years was all good - ABC Warriors, anyone?

But as jrduquemin says, it's got to be Dredd!

I think it does and I'll add Charlie Brown to this here list (not the TV cartoons though - they were cr*p).

I was an obsessive Asterix reader until about the age 11 - I asked my mum where my old Asterix books went and she evaded the question - I think she gave them to my younger cousins  - guess it's time to buy myself new copies

    Anyone ever read Gaston Lagaffe?

A rare occurrence of French humour actually being funny.

love the drawing style of that gaston lagaffe, reminds me of Peter Bagge's HATE comics. Funnily enough I think a Swedish friend of mine had some gaston comicbooks, in Swedish.

I think the Pointy-Haired Boss from Scott Adams's Dilbert strips deserves an honourable mention, if only for the disturbingly accurate similarity to a lot of real-life management types....

    Oh yes!

Also, Le Gros Degeulasse: I still remember the one of him sitting on the nudist beach under a hot sun, legs apart, meat and two veg grotesquely visible beneath the expansive belly, saying "Qu'est-ce qu'on mange a midi?"

    More concisely vulgar:

    Rude Kid out of Viz.

    Fast and Bulbous
    Peregrinations
    Eddingtons: 80 (Metric); 60 (Imperial)

  • Winker Watson from Greytowers school (Dandy)

    Desperate Dan (Dandy)

Ivor Lott and Tony Broke (Cor)
    Tail end Charlie

The above post may contain traces of sarcasm or/and bullsh*t.
