Taking your bike on the train

Why is it without fail your local train Operator continually fails to provide a place to put your bike on a train .. especially at the weekend when the train is full of drunken reveller heading home early on the last train .
It's bad enough trying to get a seat most times never still they always forget the cyclists travelling by train , It's all fine well having places at the stations to keep your bike , on a train it's a lost cause ..
