I have a specialized allez 18 sport and the tyres on it are completely slick but surprisingly grippy and have decided that I want some red tyres. No other real requirements other than being red to match my shiny new bar tape (oh and also not getting many punctures.) I have seen these but not sure really.

I've got the Michelin Speedium 2's on at the moment and I've not had a hint of trouble out of them, few hundred miles with no flats. Only done a short amount of riding in the rain with them but they've gripped nicely and showed no signs of slipping even on painted lines.

As for redness - they are lovely and red and set off my red bar tape like a dream.

Schwalbe also do coloured tyres, I've had yellow Schwalbe Blizzards that have been tough and cheap.

  • I have Continental GP 4000's (also in red) and love them. In fact I've just stuck a new set on. I knew the old set needed replacing as they were pretty much flat instead of rounded!

I definitely knew I needed new tyres when I spotted the cord coming through the rubber!!!

I guess that just shows you how robust they are though. I also only ever had one p***ture during the entire time I had them and that was a massive chunk of glass that'd puncture the wheel of a 747!!

    Vive les All Blacks!!! [:D]

I'd go with PR3s if you're feeling flush or Rubinos (plain vanilla or Pro) if you aren't. Actually there are many decent tyres available in various colours. The Schwalbe Stelvio is another mid-range one that springs to mind.

I have PR3's on one bike and GP4000S's on my new(ish) bike. I much prefer the PR3's...
Gatorskins on winter bike, not had them long enough yet...

Well there we go then, once again the conclusion is that it's personal preferance :)
