Does anyone have any experience with these wheels? I am looking for racing wheels in the price range £ 400 t0 £ 600 and this is the best the local bike shops have to offer.

  • I'm also interrested in this wheelset, but have read about people having trouble with the hubs. Anyone here know anything about that?

I bought these wheels a couple of months ago. Very pleased with them so far - no hub issues just nice, strong light set of wheels. Vast improvement on the Aksiums I had on it before.

Order mine online from The Tristore (my lbs was out of stock and couldnt source) and delivered to work. Paid £540 for shimano. Getting them home when I commute by bike was a challenge!

    Honda CBR600f 2013
    Condor Fratello 2010
    Cervelo RS 2009
    Specialized Rockhopper Pro 2008

I have Easton EA 90 SLX's and, so far (touch wood), no problems.
Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!
  • Good set of wheels, I had to re-adjust the pre-adjuster, after that they run like a dream.
  • I have the 2008 EA90 SLX (same hub, rim, spokes but non-ceramic bearing) and have now completed 15,000+ miles, apart from one front spoke letting go they have been excellent.

They roll smoother, feel faster and are lighter than my DT mon-chasserals. I think they are awesome value at £380.

Fantastic wheels. Got them last year. Run true, spin up nice and fast. cannot fault them.

ditto no problems, both my son and I have a pair (bought them from chainreaction). I contacted Easton about the problems I'd read about with the hubs and Shimano cassettes, but their view was that there was no problem. Now you could say "Well they would say that, wouldn't they" but I'm reassured.

Can I ask if the hubs are quiet? I was thinking about buying these next year and I'm not a fan of clicking hubs.

yes they are. And if you take them apart and put lithium grease in them (the white stuff) they make no noise at all.

    Good news. Thanks.
On a related note, can anyone tell me why some hubs click and why this is meant to be a good thing?

Was getting a replacement spoke easy?

I have been told that getting them is near on impossible :!:

    You mean free hub clicking?

Campag hubs free click, other manufacturers don't/ (at least that's what I'm lead to beleive)

Quality freehubs make a noise, Chris King (sound like the tyre is rubbing on something) and DT Swiss are noisy too I believe.

It's the click that bothers me. If I'm free wheeling I'd rather the only noise I could hear is the wind and tyres...

    I don't understand why noisy = quality.
