Lightweight front flashers

Can anyone recommend some light front lights? I seem to have loads of front lights that do a good job of illuminating my path, but are big and bulky. I just need ones that have a good visible flash now as I'm going to be riding on streetlamp lit roads in the Evenings.
Ideally I want to be able to fit a light either side of the stem, but because I only have 40cm bars I don't want the lights to be really big/wide.
I have got a Fenix LD20, it's bright but doesn't provide as good a visibility from angles.

I hope you're gonna give us a review of your X redd, love to hear what you think of it .......0

in terms of being neat and good "to be seen with" - i;e definately not for seeing the path with - I have a tiny little 3LED from Topeak called "whitelight" it is really small but on flash mode is quite anti-social (for want of a better term) - it's this one:

runs on two little cr3032 cells which seem to to last far longer than they should - downside is side visibiity - it's not great for this at all. but then I don't think many are. You could look at some of the velcro on "backup" lights which seem to be designed to seen from all angles.0 -
I've just got some Blackburn Fleas and they are incredibly small and bright in a 'be seen' way. They also come with a USB charger so you need never pay for batteries again and you get to charge them up at work too.0

I use an Electron 1 LED Nano which I find excellent. 4 AAAs and runs for ever on flash mode. Very bright. I run it alongside a Hope Vision 1.0

I just got some of these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=13695
For £2, they are probably sh!t, but I thought they were worth a go.
I quite fancy the Cateye el135, a friend has one and they seem just the thing but @ £20 they seem a bit pricey. So if these ones I've ordered are crap, I'll look into the others that've been mentioned.giant mancp wrote:I hope you're gonna give us a review of your X redd, love to hear what you think of it .......
I did a flat 48miler yesterday, can't say I really I had a chance to "experience" the frame as it was my first ride back after 4weeks off the bike because of flu and other stuff, and with the wind conditions and the pace of the ride I was dying.
43mm Rake fork was the right choice at least, corning seemed better than my Nero Corsa.
I'm going to try and get out one evening this week and thrash it around at my pleasure.0 -

the new cateye loop is great for adding side visibility. you could just strap it to the top of your LD200

Very similar,, in fact they must be the same, available from Tesco at £2.65 (or 97p if you are there at the right time as I was). I have back only but very bright and some side visibility too.0 -
yes - I got some for 97p too - put them on the kids bikes - bar one of the front ones which I have on my winter bike as an additon to the Hope Vision1
very good - especially at 97p!! - hell the batteries nearly cost that!0 -

What area of Tescos can they be found?0 -
+1 the Tesco mini LED. I got one last year for 97p. Lost it and a new one cost £2.65 - bargain
I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure they could be fitted to your helmet by securing the strap through your vents.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -

Sports goods, along with what can be a fair amount of other cycling stuff. I met someone who had forgotten his bag and popped in to get tube, pump etc following a puncture, jolly handy.0 -
Knog Toads
Easy to fit and move to any bike
Nice bright flashRichard

was looking at a knog frog until I saw one reviewer saying the lack of a guard above the LED meant the rider was as dazzled as the cars!
Look for a light with a hood over to keep it out of your view...

I use them more as Dusk lights, not keen on cycling at night in pich black, so can't say if that is true or not.
They are good for the grey winter days when the light is flat, shaded roads and when the light drops quickly.
They suit my needsRichard

I've got a Knog Toad but it struggles to stay on oversize bars, so just bought the Knog Gekko, use it with the Skink on the rear.
Great thing is no clips, just put them on/take them off when you need to, and switch bikes easily. My knees hurt !0 -

No wonder they are selling them for £2, they really are SHlT!0 -
Has anyone tried the Knogs on their front fucks?
Would give a good spread of flashing :!:0 -
I can stick it on the scales if you like, but what you want is one of these chuffers:

Tescos do a set of mini LED lights that are way brighter than these ones and only £3.91 a pair they are very like these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=5763Kev

I have the Cateye EL135 on flashing and run a Blackburn Flea USB front on it's brighest setting, which is pretty bright. I ride at night around the local by pass which is fully lit by normal street lighting.
The brightness of the flea on it's full overdrive setting is quite something given it's size.0 -

This is my current set up in the end - I particularly like that the gekko and LD20 will fit on the same bit of bars:

I'm tempted to do something similar on the other side of the stem. Maybe another LD20?0 -

I have done this with one of the same lights myself and thinking of getting one more up there but the ones I have come in a set of red and white and from a quick test in the shop, the set ones are brighter and they are made from clear plastic so can be seen all around.
I can post some pics if you want?0 -
I just took delivery of these lil babies. I didnt need them as I have a smart 1/2W rear and a Fenix on the front - but they looked fun.

Pretty bright and I can clip to the bike and forget about until I need them.0
