Can you help me on this one but is maltodextrin powder alright to use instead of a dedicated cycling drink?

    Some cycling drinks are basically just maltodextrin anyway just with some added flavour.
    I use maltodextrin powder mixed with fruit juice to give it a better taste, i paid about 12 quid for 5kg of the stuff.

    So I wont regret not buyng and proper energy drink if I just go for the maltodextrin powder

    I use maltodextrin mixed with fructose. Tastes just like SIS when mixed with blackcurrant and none of the dodgy guts! Energy drinks are one of the biggest rip offs going, I pay about £4 a kilo how much is SIS!

    I use a mix of 2:1 Maltodextrin/Fructose, works fine for me

    yep - i use a mix of maltrodextrin, fructose (3:1 ratio) and the some electrolytes, either nuun tabs or powder

    The same ingredients as the branded stuff, but a tenth of the price, much more palatable (why do they put the horrendous flavourings in?) and you can tailor as you see fit.

    Pretty much what I do, but I get the fructose from OJ. I use 1 part OJ to 2 parts of water, a tiny pinch of salt and 3 scoops of maltodextrin powder per 750 mL bottle.

    Cheap maltodextrin powder is available from myprotein.co.uk. I buy the 5 kg bags.

    add another myprotein user to this list.
    i switched because a can't stand the taste of artificial sweeteners.

    i also got some taurine from myprotein - i felt as strong as a bull??!!

    I think 2:1 maltodextrin to fructose is supposed to be about the optimum ratio. Also, excess fructose can upset your stomach.
