Thanks for the info. The article on it in the magazine is always a very good read. I just re-read the Dec07 issue and it was pretty interesting.Contador is the Greatest0

He's said
"I will need to train hard on cobblestones before the next Tour de France"Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
He also said he is sort of leaning towards Caisse:
"It seems like I will have the opportunity to change teams. I want to have a team that is 100 percent behind me. Caisse d'Epargne is the biggest option I have. There's a huge interest from them, but it's not easy to come to an agreement."0 -
The next issue of Velo has AC on the cover with the text
"Armstrong made me popular"

"I will pretty much only think of the Tour de France for next year," he said.
Ah well. As I'd feared. We'll see less and less, as he specialises more and more.
Another lesson from the Lance Armstrong handbook.
Part time cyclist, part time celebrity.
Feet up, on the beach, after July. Not a popular approach.
Allez Gilbert!"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Why are you saying this like fact when it is indeed your opinion.
You should also find out what Contador has done since the end of the Tour de France and his opinion on 'celebrity'.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Since the end of the Tour he's ridden no significant races except a bunch of paid crits.
He's made many public appearances (probably also paid for) and has collected several awards.
Not exactly a stressful time since finishing the Tour. Nothing wrong with that, but not what some would call a 'full' season.
Very similar to one Mr. Armstrong in the past.0 -
Does anyone know how to get Velo in the UK?0

He's possibly correct, LA brings worlwide media based on press accredition rise in 09......he put the spotlight on himself, he lost...the spotlight caught AC-of course not what LA wanted...but AC is correct kinda...like Hinault made Lemond one of the best TDF winners ever0 -

Er.....no, I'm quoting the record books, since July and Contador's own words.
"I will pretty much only think of the Tour de France for next year,"
He's also already dismissed the Giro, as well.
Of course, you will be correct, if Bertie is only stating his opinion as a smokescreen and his words don't constitute facts.
Now, I hope this has got the petulance :P out of your system."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

IMO we'll never see Contador back the Vuelta or Giro again...it will be one grand tour win a a year for the next 2 or 3 years and then when he gets beat he will be near 7 GTs total. He won't win more GTs than LA or Indurain I guess0 -
Possibly, yet I wouldn't be surprised if he rode the Giro next year. He has said that the route suited him...Contador is the Greatest0

There is always the possibility that he realizes that, maybe, just maybe, he can't do it all.
Some can, some can't. Maybe Lance couldn't do it all and he knew it. I'd have to say that
trying to be in top form, to win the TDF, and still WIN a bunch of other races may be something that only a few have the recuperative powers to accomplish. It could very well be that Lance and AC are not in that FEW. I can easily believe that winning the TDF
could suck up just about any and all the reserves that a human may have for that year.
Or it could be like you said, win the big one - hit the beach. Now THAT sounds like the way to go for me.0 -
No Giro for Contador. He has spoken.
Also:
Andy Schleck plans to ride the 2010 RvV as a preparation for the cobblestone sections of stage 3 of the Tour. After that he'll do AGR, Fleche & Liege. No Giro.

After last year's riches, next year's field may be a bit thin.

I see Armstrong was 5th - I presume because Wilcockson gave him all the 15 points he had to award - but, seriously, there were at least 5 riders who had better seasons than Armstrong - Valverde, Menchov, Boonen and Hushovd all ranked below him (in that order) and all actually won something of note.
Really is time for the sport to stop looking sentimentally at the old timers0 -
