I'm doing cyclocross and have been riding it on SS. loving it but suffering badly. I'm looking at getting a geared bike but am not sure what.

Depends on how much you want to spend - Specialized TriCross are popular, but you need to replace the vee-brakes with cantis to prevent judder and give some mud clearance. Kinesis are good value too. Some of the specialist cross dealers like Paul Milnes, Zepnat and Elmey Cycles are worth a try and finally there's always ebay.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • money is definitely an issue due to the amount of use it would get over the year. 1k max but ideally less. It needs to be good at absorbing the bumps as i have a bad back.
