I'm upgrading my Merlin XL and want to change my old bars and stem . Pro and FSA seem to be very popular currently .I want to keep weight to a minimum any thoughts ?

I have pro xlt bar and stems on two bikes. And a pro vibe mono carbon stem /xlt bar combo on another. Im a big strong rider and have givn it al a bit of welly in the last racing season no issues. Excellent products. Also have pro vibe mono carbon seatposts in 4 out of 5 bikes too. Its the first company i look to for smaller bolt on parts. 8,500 miles so far this year and none of their kit looks warn.

My Deda bars and stem are both "alloy carbon fibre wrapped" so they're good for BLING but they're NOT full carbon. But they DO look good :D

Then again, there's other places where weight reductions will be of more value. Why not just buy Conti Supersonic inner tubes and super light tyres, e.g. Ultremos or Conti Supersonic tyres?

Alloy bars often weigh less than their carbon equivalents. Bars are basically consumables - can't see the point in paying for carbon really.
