No probs, as long as everything is Shimano 10 speed it`ll work OK. The new 6700 shifters are greatJens says "Shut up legs !! "

Brilliant, I know, thats why I want them.0

You might have an issue with braking...
I have the new 6700 groupset and I believe the levers have a different pull ratio (?) to the rest of the range, but the same as DA.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
I`m using the new 6700 levers with 2009 Tiagra brakes without issue.Jens says "Shut up legs !! "

I'm using them with 6500 deep drop callipers... They're certainly not 'that' good :shock:Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
the new 6700STI do indeed pull more brake cable than the older STI so if you use them with the older non-6700 calipers the the lever will be firmer and you'll get less power.
They'll still 'work' but they won't be as good. Whether this matters depends on how big a difference it is (I've not tried them myself so can't say) and how important braking performance is to you. And indeed you may even prefer this setup if you like a firm lever.
It a similar story - but perhaps a more extreme example - when you use V-brake levers with roadie dual pivots. They 'work' but aren't very powerful.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -

Tried for the very first ride on a wet, hilly sportive  ... Nearly ruined my new seat, too!
Not too bad in the dry, but obviously, when paired with dep drops, I expected them to work in the wet, too (better than they did)Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Ok, I am planning on putting the planet ultralight cnc brakes on. Would they work fine? Planet x seem to think they will be fine.0

Well, if PX say it's ok, in writing, you should have some come back if they're not!
Good luck...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Apologies for tweaking the thread a bit, but did anyone else find it a real pain fitting the gear cables to 6700 sti. Once fitted though, they work beautifully and are comfy grip.0

Right-hand side lever, cable went straight in. Left-hand side lever, you`ve gotta take off the small plastic "inspection hatch" on the outside faceof the lever body to make sure you can feed the cable the correct way over the drum, it`s easy for it to go the wrong side of the mechanism. Once you`ve spotted which way it has to go, it goes in no probs. (the Shimao instructions are pretty fool-proof)Jens says "Shut up legs !! "
