Five punctures on two rides this week have made up my mind that the Conti Ultra Sports on my single speed are truely awful. Not only the number of puctures but the poor performance from them mean I want a change them. On a bit economy drive of at the moment so I'm restricted to a budget of £30 max for the pair. So any personal recommendations please will be most welcome, I've run out of tubes!!!

Could I recommend that you recommend, any other recommendations other than the recommendation you recommended.

I would certainly recommend to others that they recommend other tyres other than the recommended tyre as recommended in my previous recommendation......or something.....0 -

Schwalbe Blizzards or Luganos could be a good option and still meet your budget.0

markos1963, why not take the tyres off one of your other bikes, until you have...
A. More funds.
B. A definite idea as to what you want.
Or, take the tyres off your sons bike!
I just got Conti Gatorskins with the last bike, but they're out of budget.
Fat Birds do Blizzards, Richard said they were very popular... Might do you a deal!
I see your club have changed sponsors as well as kit. Nice kit, by the way... I may have to change club! Black n Red suits my bike better...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
i second the rubinos - used them for years and tried all the different versions of them - pro, slick, slick pro - you get the picture
the best (certainly for the cash) are the std wire bead rubinos in the colour of your choice - very hard wearing, good p@ncture resistance and roll well.
they used to be £8 each or £16.99 for two with tubes from wiggle - but sadly they have increased in price a lot over the past few months.0 -

Had thought of taking the Lithions off my Onix as I've had two seasons with only one puncture but they are wearing thin now and I want the excuse to buy some Pro Race 3's for it next season
No point taking the tyres off sons bike as it is often pressed into service for shopping trips.
Blizzards look good and CRC have them in my price range.
New club kit does look good, can't make up my mind as to what to get? Xmas is near so I'll have to write to Santa!Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

Rubino's £8.82 each at FB's.
Wow! I just checked your new kit catalogue... My God, you get loads of choice, too...
We get: Jersey, shorts/ skinsuit. I refuse to wear the shorts, as I don't get on with them, from Impsport... :evil:Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -

Thanks for that, will be putting the tyres on some new wheels for next season, hopefully saving up for something like these:

Whoa! Looking at the wheels, I almost clicked on the 'Add to Basket' button
I think I'd like a set of carbon wheels, next year...
Are there any reviews for those wheels?Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -

Haven't found any reviews yet. I think someone at my club knows the guy who's running the UK side of things, I'll ask him next time I see him. i still like the PlanetX Pro Carbon 50's but they only have them in tubular's so not so keen.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

I have used both the Blizzards and Luganos and have been pleased with them both. I have bought from an ebay seller and have felt that the price has been very good on each occasion. I haven't had a puncture in about 3 years with the Schwalbes.
This good run may also be down to cloth rim tape as well as my hybrid bike had a number of punctures this year on Continental tyres and I tracked this to rubber rim tapes that had stretched into the spoke holes. I think the self adhesive cloth rim tapes will stop this.

Just got my Rubinos this afternoon and been out for a spin. Went down some pretty grotty roads and so far so good. Certainly much better rolling than the Conti's and look the bizz(got the yellow and black ones in 25mm). Many thanks for the recommendations.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?
