Hi All,

I was browsing through some of my old cycling magazines today and came across the following two "interesting" articles on team doctors/doping. The articles date back to 1996, and now make an interesting read!

Aldo Sassi worked with Moser for his hour record attempt "preparation", eh?

Another one bites the dust, via the forum rules on guilt by association...

Ahhh, but there was no cheating involved in that, was there?

There was blood transfusing going on. Not cheating back then, but it is now...

I imagine Moser did some other preparation that wasn't doping - such as training. Someone's got to advise him on that.

Perhaps if you want a more apposite analogy from that era it would taking epo when there wasn't a test for it.

Plenty of people around USA cycling objected to the blood transfusions at the 84 Olympics, and it certainly wasn't because they were offended by the aesthetics.

And as far as I'm aware, you are not risking your life by adopting the Superman position on the track...

Even not so old mags can provide a few raised eyebrows. The Pro Cycling I found under the passenger seat of my car the other day (from feb 08) had an article on the Pro Tour "Young Guns" which featured an interview with Contador, A Schleck, Boonen, Dekker and Gerderman in which they all outlined their vision for the future of clean cycling and their part as the new "Clean generation". Following this sport is like watching a soap opera at times.......

Yeah but at least we haven't the old soap opera standard of someone doing something bad and it turns out it was actually his long lost twin. That would be mad.

Yeah, even Tyler would think that was bonkers.

Moser had Conconi and Ferrari on board too. No wonder he broke the record.
