Does anyone have any thoughts on this frame? I think it looks like a great frame and I know that it has had really great reviews.

Does anyone own one? Would anyone suggest something else? (Along the lines of "nearly £1k for an aluminium frame! Are you mad you should buy this instead..")

Would you say that is the equal of the Cervelo frame? It is certainly much cheaper (if you can find a frame and fork only anway).

Drop a grand on 1990's technology? If Cervelo weren't such a triumph of marketing over content, they might not be so bad - trouble is all the Madone riders have progressed to Cervelos as it's the bike to be 'seen' on
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Are they the bikes to be seen on? I've no idea.

They are pretty aero, but I don't know how much of an advantage that is or isn't for road racing?

What other decent frames can you get for £800-£1000k?

Ive got one, its a great bike, handles well, relatively light, fast.

My only thoughts were whether to go carbon instead, but I wouldnt have been able to afford an S2 or R3 at the time and I decided I'd rather have a sh1t-hot aluminium frame than to have more like an entry-mid level carbon frame of which there are so many to pick from. Mind you mine is the white and red one from last year which is more like £800 instead of the £1000 this year, which must be down to exchange rates and all that really.

You can still get the one I have at £800...

One day I will get a carbon frame though as I love the feel of them, but that's not to knock the S1 at all, it puts a smile on my face everytime.

If YOU think it LOOKS great and you want it, buy it. I appears you want a great looking frame and that's the one that caught your eye. As for reviews, well, when was the last time you read a bad review about, pretty much, any frame. Size shouldn't be an issue as Cervelo only makes 3 or 4 and they seem to fit a wide range of riders. By all means, buy the bike for the look you want. People will post about how you need to buy this or that frame, this or that group, this or that material, because blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Buy whatever frame in the color you want. It makes more sense than trying to figure out what is the BETTER high end frame. That's not possible. They are all better than each other. At
least that's the impression I get from reading the cycling mag's and visiting all the web sites. Get the one YOU want.
