Hi people,

Can I ask a simple question....

If a bike originally had an SRam groupset sold on it on it and (rival) and it was replaced with a Campag Xenon groupset - would this be seen as a down grade, upgrade or like for like?

Cheers,

Dru.

  • My opinion would be it's a serious downgrade.

SRAM Rival's functionality is very much the same as Red, it's the weight that makes the difference. Rival is SRAM's entry product, but function wise is fantastic.

Campag Xenon is very much entry level, both in form and function.

I'm looking at a bike that came with Sram rival (i think) but now has xenon front and rear mechs, Centuar crank and Veloce Shifters - so its a bit of a pick and mix - so just trying to weigh up overall build compared to original value of bike etc etc

Actually - it looks like the original bike would have had Tiagra so I guess the Xenon,Centaur,Veloce groupset is fairly similar.
