Sram Cassete on a bontrager wheel

HI, i have currently got a cracked rim on my bontrager racelite rear wheel, i can only afford to replace it though with a race wheel which the guy that i emailed told me was shimano casete only. my current wheel though has got a sram cassete (bought the bike second hand) will this sram cassette fit onto the new hub cuse i thought shimano & Sram were compatable?

Apologies if there are loads of other posts like this but i couldn't find an answer in the few that i read
