I'm stunned. Pat's unenforceable clause could see it's first victim. Presumably Moreni's annual salary was less than it would cost his lawyers to appeal to CAS?

Comments

  • Didn't Moreni immediately admit to what he'd done/taken when caught? Which could perhaps indicate he has more of a conscience than most who get busted.

Is Pat going to hoard that money or give it to charity?

The UCI are going to put it on the 12:30 at Doncaster.

The horse will expire at the first hurdle, of course, and they will loose all their money.

Moreni is doing the right thing, at last. It's a shame the others are not.
He should be accepted back into the scene, unlike Vino etc.

It would be interesting to know just what the money will go to in the UCI coffers?
New office furniture for someone? Christmas bonus?

"No one has paid up until now," said McQuaid. "[Alexander] Vinokourov, [Andrey] Kashechkin and [Michael] Rasmussen, all positive in 2007, have appealed the decision to CAS [Court of Arbitration for Sport] and we are waiting its decision."

how slow is this process ? its the end of the season 2009 with new season 2010 starting in the new year, these 'crimes' were commited over 2 years ago and I cant see that CAS are completley overwhelmed by the sheer number of cases they have to deal with.

why is this taking so long .... both riders have served thier bans and are back racing for gods sake !! - surely if they take it to appeal they should be banned, BUT also not able to compete until the the hearing that THEY have brought has been heard ?

welcome to pro cycling where riding your bike fast is not enough. You need expertise in haematology and, increasingly, the ability to make legal appeals to the CAS.

Jumpers for goalposts? Not in any modern sport where $$$ are involved.

Credit to Moreni, he also admitted guilt and didn't even bother with the B-sample.

Perhaps making a comeback easier when the suspension is up?

Seems strange that's he willingly paying, when other riders who have served bans, have made it back in the Pro peleton without paying.

Hopefully that little sh1t Ricco will have to pay before they let him ride the Giro.

Nope. His ban was only 20 months so it doesn't apply to him.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
