My sidi freeze have had it. So it's either sidi hydro gtx or shimano rw80. Any recommendations?

I already team them up with wool socks and overboots when it's really cold so let's stick to boot recommendations please.

I thank you

Northwave Fahrenheit. Never been more snug and I always got cold feet before.

Have just bought the RW80s but have yet to use them properly. They'll probably have their first outing tonight. Previously had the MTB version (MW70), but they weren't much cop. Filled up with water from the top and then stayed inside the boot :o(. The RW80 seem and feel better made. I think they have more insulation and have three straps, instead of two for last year's model.

    +1 for the Northwaves
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

My Sidi Daiblos are toasty - Sidi's quality of construction is suoerior to most other shoes IME. Most boots still don't satisfactorily resolve the problem with water running down the ankle though and I still use overshoes when its pouring down. Sidis size up small, whereas Northwave are nearer 'standard'
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

they're very narrow - if your feet are narrow then "normal" sizes, but if wide then you prob need a size up id reckon

I wouldn't say the Northwaves are very narrow - not like Shimano anyway. I went for a 42 in the Celsius. A 42 in Shimano is a bit small for me and a 42 in Specialized was too big. So for me a 42 in the Northwave Celsius would equate to a 42.5 in Shimano and a 41.5 in Specialized.

I reckon if you go for the same size as Specialized then there'll probably just be room for winter socks, where as a size up (47 in your case) could be a little roomy.
    More problems but still living....

I don't find Northwave particularly narrow, and Shimano are even wider - my Shimano MTB winter boots are very wide). If you're not sure about sizing, you really need to try them on rather than listen to other riders experience with shoes. My Northwaves are a size higher, but that's mainly to allow for thicker socks and room for warm air to circulate.

I don't think the Northwaves are particularly narrow - but one thing I did find is that whilst I'm a 42 in all my Northwaves, I found the Celsius 42s too short in the toe, so opted for 43.

I found the Fahrenheits (road winter boots) fine in a 42.

    Weird!?

Are there any approximate guidelines on which makes are generally narrow fitting, and which not.

I'm after narrow shoes, and understand that Sidi should fit the bill, while Specialized probably won't, with the others maybe somewhere in between. Is that vaguely right?

I'll try before buy, but having an idea what I'm aiming at would be a start.

The fit of Sidis winter boots is a bit roomier than their regular shoes - I can wear a Woolie Boolie sock with mine whereas I'd struggle with the same in both pairs of regular shoes.

  • Thanks everyone

I picked up some new RW80's for £67.
    Size 47

Generally speaking, European shoes are narrower than American shoes.
