Except JV twittered that "Garmin has resigned", instead of "Garmin has re-signed"

They sponsor a fair bit of sport

Small beans for them I expect.

Even though their reputation as one of the sport's good guys took a bit of a knock with the Hincapie Affair, this is still good news...

Garmin chasing the break to keep Hincapie out of yellow...
  • Ah yes, it did seem petty and a little spiteful. I did think that it added something to the mix though!

They weren't the only ones - Silence had a couple of guys on the front as well. As a multi-TdF winner once said, "Pas de cadeaux"...

Anyway, this was a complete tacitcal c0ck-up by Columbia, who were trying to have their cake (Cav taking the sprint) and eat it (keeping Big George in yellow) and they managed neither. I bet Cuddly Bob is very happy for Garmin to take the heat over that incident - probably their best "victory" of the season...

To be fair, my beef with it was less about the chasing down (which you're quite entitled to do in a bike race) more about the bare-faced lies they came out with afterwards to explain it....

    It's a bike race.

Not a "lets give George a jersey because he's a nice bloke" event.

    It's a mockery of a sham
