Rear Disc brakes for the larger gent on a budget

I bought a second hand spech epic frame, the rear only seems to take a 160mm rotor, the funn f2 brakes i have work fine with the 203mm but now the rear is struggling to stop me.
As im getting more confident and a little faster, i find i have to pull a little more front brake when dealing with steep downhills or steps to be able to control the descent.
As im on a bit of a budget M4s are probably out of the question, so im probably only going to get a 2 pot system, so im thinking that i should get one with a large pad area to help stop me rather than a lightweight mini pad type. IE SLX rather than Hope mini. Is my thinking correct on this? And have any of the stouter gents ( im 18 stoneish but getting lighter
) got any recommendations?
Cheers

the rear brake shouldn't stop you... front to stop, rear to slow.
However, you could just upgrade your rear disk to 185mm and gain a bit more POWAAARRRR0 -
Elixirs.
More power than you can shake a stick at. I endo easily (sitting down) with one finger on a 160mm rotor. Never got arm pump either. But enough plenty of modulation too, the better models have more adjustment, but a touch unnecessary.0 -
As i said the frame wont take more than 160A feather is kinky, a whole chicken is just perverse.0

Try some different pads with your Funn brakes.0

Struggling to find any pads for Funn except for organic ones supersonic, i would love some Elixirs ride, but i dont think i can stretch to them £80ish is about my max for a rear.A feather is kinky, a whole chicken is just perverse.0

Formula brakes are the way to go.0

pair of elixir 5's from merlin 135 quid. Then flog the funn ones for a small amount to recoup your 55 quid.0

well as the back does bugger all braking it does not matter.
bigger front disc."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

bigger front disc.
But surley a tecnical section like a line of 10 or more steps down make the use of the front a risky thing ( i ride lots of cliff paths with many steps and rocky slopes). If the front grabs or the forks dive after hitting a rut your over the bars, where as if your dragging the rear your control is better?
Besides Its got a 203 on the front nowA feather is kinky, a whole chicken is just perverse.0
