Shimano 10 speed cassette on Campag Zonda
Ive got a 10 speed 105 cassette (taking off another bike) I wanted to put onto my shimano Campag Zonda wheel which has an 8/9/10 shimano freehub, the one with the shallower splines... it doesn't fit, slides on too far...
Now Ive found that 10 speed Shimano cassettes come with a 1mm spacer that needs to go the freehub first in cases where you're fitting a 10sp cassette to an 8/9/10 greehub... have I got that right?
I found an old spacer and tried it, it all went on (I thought it was too far spaced out myself, but maybe not).... pedalled it round on the stand and saw the cogs wandering a little, gave it a wobble, wasn't sure, took it all off, the spacer I used must be the wrong material cos it completely mis-shpaed and bent it like a cone.
I take it all this is no problem with the right spacer and the spacer I used might have been too wide at its outer diameter (not the depth, that was 1mm)....
Any pointers ? I assume everything should work all snug and lovely, otherwise I'll have to order another Sram Cassette as those have the 8/9/10 shallower spline pattern design.

You need a Marchisio Aviotek cassette system.

Why do I need that... Im only wondering whats going on with puitting a 10 speed Shimano cassette onto and 8/9/10 shimano freehub... the '10' in 8/9/10 intimates thats quite normal.. I reckon its probably the 1mm washer Im supposed to have is a bit less 'outside' diameter than the one I tried and probably a lot tougher, like steel, whereas the one I tried mustve been something soft to bend like that, like cheese.
Unless Im completely barking up the wrong tree and 10 speed shimano cassettes on 8/9/10 freehubs are always a shitty compromise fit wise? (in which case I'll just stick to Sram 10 speed cassettes which are 8/9/10 freehub fitting anyway).0 -
is it original shimano freehub body?
that is right about slim spacier, i had one titanium-magnesium within my dura-ace cassette,0 -

Yeah, when I bought the Zondas they were for Shimano 8/9/10, have had a Sram 1070 Cassette on there but have a Shimano 10sp one now and haven't got applicable spacer, I take it thats the only problem.0 -
just order quality one which will fit exactly,
use catalogue in any bike shop,0 -
I didn't realise Campag made wheels with Shimano freehubs - I thought that was what the Fulcrum brand was for?Expertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/

Yeah they do, Fulcrum was probably needed because if a bike's got a Shimano or Sram groupset then it might look odd having Campag written all over the wheels or cranks to some people...plus a lot of people assume what you have I suppose??
Zonda's for one are v good wheels for the money thats for sure.0 -
I'm running a 10 sp Shimano cassette on a Zonda with the correct spacer and no problems'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0
