Spending a week in Southern Spain witn the family near Estepona. Does anyone know some good routes with long climbs?

No specific routes to recommend but I toured through Andalucia a few years ago and it was one of the nicest places I've ever ridden a bike.
Head inland as the coast can be busy and built up. Don't be temped to ride down to Gibralter because the surrounding bit of Spain is grim (although the rock itself is nice). Other than that, it's all good.0 -
Agree with El Gordo that this part of Spain makes you want to get on your bike. The local cycling club Union Ciclista Virgen del Carmen has some good photos and videos of the area around Estepona to give you an idea of the cycling.
From the photos and videos on the site these would be the best routes:
Puerto de Peñas Blancas - 1010mtrs, between Estepona and Genalguacil (20kms) and video.
Estepona-Jubrique-Algatocin-Casares-Estepona (83kms)
Estepona-Jubrique (27kms)
A bit too far away, but nice videos.
Estepona-Torreguadiaro-Tesorillo-Jimena de la Frontera-Gaucín-Casares-Estepona (115 kms)
Estepona to Castellar
I have marked in blue the routes metioned above.
The area to the north east of Jubrique has a cluster of routes in the Genal Valley, a very attractive part of Andalucia with its white washed villages of Pujerra, Juzcar and Farajan. The more you spend - the faster you go - the less you see.0
