Identifying wheel cone

I'm trying to identify a rear wheel cone for my Giant FCR 2.
The hub is some nameless generic, but the rims are Alex Rims DA22 if thats any help?
We don't have a LBS , and I'm not sure how to measure the thing. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Take a high-res/macro photo and post it up.0

That would help!
Also, the nut is 10mm. (The dust cap part is slightly dented due to spanner rage.)

It's possible that the hub is a Shimano Sora.
Does anyone know of a good catalogue for wheel cones, esp with pics?

Thought of asking a Giant stockist?0

I recently replaced the cones on my Giant and the hub sounds the same as yours. I took the old spindle and cones into the local bike shop and they had standard cone sets like mine but without the dust cap. I bought these (I think about £2.99) and fitted them and they are fine; the dust cap side has a rubber seal that fitted on a the hub so it all worked ok. I’ve done about 500 trouble free miles with them now.
PS I also replaced the ball bearings at the same time.0
