what is going on with hubs trying to get a campag 36 rear 10 sp cassette hub like rocking horse shit , its either record or record nice price!, i know there doing miche but at over £60 quid a pair! only want a rear. Campags took off all the cheap mirage, centur etc, so we cant build our own wheels. You used to be able to get a hub fro £30 quid from ribble, but there only selling record!. They want us to buy factory built wheels only which dont last, and you have to buy more and more. i have wrecked at least 5 sets of factory wheels this year, they wont stay true and spokes come loose freewheel fails etc etc. a good sprint rim and hubs are hard to find cheap!

+1 Even my fat *ss can't do that.0 -
Factory wheels are killing the handbuilt though. If I go to my LBS and have them build up any wheelset, I'll be looking at $200 for even Open Pros on Tiagra, maybe more than that. With Mavic being annoying about supplying rims, and the time it takes, I'm not surprised that factory wheels are popular with shops (less time) and riders (cheap). Just unfortunate if you like building your own. Try ebay for some older Centaur hubs.0

I think it's a shame that any nice plain hubs are difficult to find. I have a pair of old-ish Record hubs – the last silver ones, from 2004 or thereabouts – and I wish I'd bought some more then if I'd known how hard they would become to get. Those hubs are top dollar on ebay now, if I want to build any more wheels I'm screwed (so to speak), because I don't want the black ones, or sealed cartridge bearing hubs.0

I say go for Record.
I know they are expensive but trust me they are worth it.
I had Mirage hubs before which were sealed cartridge bearings and I was not impressed, especially as I had to change a bearing in the first 500 miles.
Record are just so smooth and the easiest hubs I've ever had to adjust bearings on.
If you want to save somne cash you could sell the skewers that come with them.I got £25 right away on Ebay.I don't like the new Campag skewers.0 -

My Campag Neutrons must have done some 15000 miles now and they are still going strong. The rims are still in good shape and the hubs still run freely. My previous wheels which had Open Pro rims were shot after 12000 miles. The rims were past the point of no return.
I would have another pair of Neutrons like a shot.0 -
Ambrosio make campag compatible hubs; a friend built me a rear wheel with one which apparently cost £40. Sealed cartridge bearings.
Another option: Byers cycles built me a pair of commuting wheels with Mirage hubs - he bought a load of them before they finished and may have stock still - he may still have some for a build. They've been good, put up with all the crap a london cycle path going through the Olympic building site can throw at them without probs.
Hope this helps.
