i recently bought a bike through a local add.i asked the seller would he be prepared to sell if i sorted the delivery side out and he said yes.
i then organsied parcel force to collect from the sellers home.when the driver arrived he took one look and said " no , too big that".
i had to sort another pick up out to allow the seller to sort the package size out.
he got the box alot smaller 110cm x 80cm x 45cm and they refused it again !!!.
ive read the guidlines and its 60cm in total over
110cm + 80cm + 80cm + 80cm + 45cm +45cm = 360cm
but to be honest i cant see how to get it any smaller without taking a hacksaw to it.
they same guy from parcel force went twice so he's on a jobs worth mission.
does anyone have any advise on how to get the bike here ?.

i've avoided parcelforce in the past because their size limits seem to exclude bike boxes - but lots of people on here (and elsewhere) recommend them. it gets more expensive to avoid them though. I've used these guys before: http://www.paisleyfreight.com - they just subcontracted to city link, but it was great service.0

Try these:
www.parcel2go.com
They offer most of the courier companies and sort by price etc. You need to give them the parcel dimensions and weight whilst getting the online quote so there should be no excuses. I've used them the last few weeks for a bike frame, motorbike bits and a large birthday parcel to France. The first two were sent via a company called home delivery network and the latter DHL. All parcels were picked up on the day booked and delivered within 48 hours. The prices were all very good £10-12 for the UK and about £20 to France, all including the relevant insurance.
Good luck0 -

agreed this 'should' be the easiest - although I sold my Langster this week and arranged a DHL collection through them for yesterday - organised someone to be in all day (which isn't easy - we both work and there are school runs to do) only for them to not turn up - couldn't find us apparently - which sounds like crap to me although I was amazed that they send them out with (or without!) maps - you'd think DHL would use sat-nav wouldn't you.
anyway - they were very apologetic i gues and it did get collected today.0 -
i put in 110 x 90 x 50 ( to give plenty of room for bubble wrap ) and got quoted £65.99 with parcel2go ..hence i chopped it down but to get it to a decent price were i can then enhance the insurance i would have to be sending a bike similar to the one the ride in the ring at billy smarts circus!.0

My langster was in a box 112 x 78 x 29 and it fitted easily ( was a 42"TV box) it was packed with polystyrene (modified stuff that held the telly) and weighed 12kg packed
it was just under £20 and was suitably insured.0 -

if that was with parcel force yours would be legally over the limit and the tossers down on poole certainly wouldnt accept that.
they work it out that the box must not be a total of 300cm ...
so yours is ;-
length = 112
height= 78
depth = 29
they measure the length which is and add it to the girth / circumference of the box so its
112 + 78 + 78 + 29 + 29 = 326cm so in theory its 26cm over the limit.
they jobsworth has brought a tape twice and phone his boss who said no .
they wonder why there's redundancies when there's dicks like these two who for the sake of 20-30cm in a total measurement say no.0
