i took my bike in today to have the bottom bracket replaced and some new cranks put on but upon removal of the old BB the threads were f***ed and the only reason the old one was staying in was because the plasic cups had fused to the frame
theres barely any thread for the new cup to thread into and i'm supposed to be going UK bike park at the weekend as i booked it of work to go riding.
What am i going to do????????

What am i going to do????????

A new frame would be the quickest and cheapest fix
There are some corking bargains at CRC0 -
Just hire a bike for the weekend?

Seems strange it was that far gone, did the shop run a bb thread chaser tool through it?0

Cant say how well it would work without trying it but perhaps try wrapping the new bb's threads with a few layers of PTFE plumbers tape ? Then try to install it again.0

Bloody hell !
That sounds really bad0 -
I have no idea.
To be honest I don't even know if a bike BB can be helicoiled. It might be something for a local engineering company to advise you on, but to be honest if it's going to be that much hassle then a new frame might be easier and indeed cheaper.0 -
You can have the steam off my p*ss if you like. No charge.0

Would say you coulda had my old frame for £20-30 but you live all the way over there...0

As the frame "might" be knackered anyhow, you could take it to a local motorcycle garage and see if they can helicoil it. Worth a try.
Or local technical college?CAAD9

Frame repairers can ream and sleeve the BB but won't get you back on the road for the weekend. You haven't been riding along the foreshore on the Exe?I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
