Buying secondhand anxiety

I've been looking at picking up a discount '09 bike, has 2 or 3 in mind, one of which I've found secondhand, and EX8.
Bit worried about warranty cover though, particularly after seeing this:

As they're going for £1475 new I would pick up without a seconds thought, but I'm borderline on sizes and really err on the 19.5 size which I can't find...
How many on here have broken frames?

Why not just buy a bike that isn't prone to snapping instead ?Salsa Spearfish 29er

Saw another thread about this somewhere else. The break was due to stressloading on the seat stay from the disc brake. I think all of the affected frames were valid for replacemt of the rear triangle and the design fault was fixed on later models - check the Trek website? You don't need eyes to see, you need vision0
