Hi.

I'm in the market for some new pedals and shoes, which I'm going to use to compete in a few Triathlon's next year.. So need to start training..

I want to get some pedals, was looking at the Look Keo Carbons and some Tri Shoes, someone suggested the Shimano TR31... Just wondering if anyone has had a good or bad expericence with these, or could you recommend something else

Is it best to have the same brand shoe and pedal, just to make life easier... All advice welcome.

Thanks,
Shaun.

  • all depends what you want to pay; Sidi shoes are good and a set of speedplay pedals would work too.

I use spd 520's, found them to be more than adequate for me!

They fit really well if you have broad-ish feet. I can't wear Shimano shoes at all - they are still too narrow even going up sizes.

They last well too in my experience.

Depending of course what model you choose - this year's S-Works road shoe had a narrow last compared to most other Specialized shoes (the 2010 model which is now available seems to have gone wider again, though I've not yet found a pair in my size). I agree about Shimano being too narrow.

The make comes second after the fit. Go to a shop and try some on.
    More problems but still living....

Definitely. Different brands fit differently, so if you haven't used a particular brand before, make sure you get fitted in them before you buy.
