Been trying to figure out who makes the unbranded hubs on my Boardman HT Pro...turns out they're made by Formula (http://www.formulahubs.com).
Not heard of them, they any good? Worth replacing?

1 year and 3 months, no service, no play, and they still roll smoothly.
Great hubs.0 -
well mine is a xc hub and ive been using it for downhill and jumping and it is solid0

If this is the Formula as in one of the bigger OEM provider they do make some not so great hubs. But that's not to say they don't make good hubs as well, its just I have not come across them yet. The OEM ones I have seen get you going but I would rather not use one if I had the option. How much are you looking to spend? Shimano do some perfectly good hubs that are easy to work on and most good bike shops carry spares the world over. If your looking at spending a bit more my personal recommendation would be Hope.0

I have one on the front. Looks great, peforms great. Still running smooth after 1 year of rough riding.0

Use it until it goes wrong then buy new wheelFig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

I was wondering about the wheels on my Boardman pro (08 ) too. It seems like everything else is 'proven' quality lightweight kit; Ritchey WCS, Reba Race, Sram X9/X0 etc, with no real room for reasonably priced improvement.
But the wheels are a bit of an unknown, does anyone know the weight of them? I haven't got any scales!0 -
Yep, I've been thinking the same thing...there's nothing obviously wrong with them as far as I can see mind! And seem pretty lightweight.
They claim to be Ritchey WCS Disc rims, but Im not fully convinced that's actually true, since I can't seem to find any available to buy which look graphically the same. Unless they're old versions?0 -
Formula are like Wellgo, they make loads of kit and some of it turns up with different logos on. I've got Formula hubs in my old Kraken, I did have the freehub fail but that was a known defect with one model and was replaced with an upgraded part under warranty. They're very, very like LX, to the extent that some bits are interchangable. Not identical, I don't think the seals are as good and the metal is cheaper but not really much different either. 'd sooner have DT or Shimano mind but then the entire bike cost less than the wheels on my Soul so, can't complain, they workUncompromising extremist0

They make a range of hubs, from the basic and heavy, to quite exotic. So depends on the model.
I use them in my XERO wheelset.0 -
these came as standard on my bike
well my front formula hub is still running after 8 months
however the rear hub only lasted 7 months, so im gonna have to say they suck! the freebody went over a period of a week to the point where i have no driveDont look at it-ride it! they are tools not f*cking ornaments

Replace it then! If the rest of the hub is fine, get a new freehub body.0
